The world’s most advanced
monitoring system for ship emissions

A more sustainable shipping industry is now in sight thanks to marinehound™. Our innovative sulphur emissions sniffer system is designed to help the marine industry meet IMO 2020 regulations efficiently and cost-effectively

Our fully integrated and automated system can be deployed in ports and harbours around the world to patrol ships and ensure they comply with emissions limits. All in all, marinehound™ delivers actionable, real-time results to move the shipping industry towards full sulphur cap compliance.

Here’s how marinehound™ patrols your emissions control area

marinehound™ is a unique Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) to continuously monitor, analyse, and record emissions from ships. Using a hybrid of smart buoy, drone, and gas analyser technology, our unique product provides autonomous and highly accurate monitoring of fuel pollutants and reports findings to regulatory authorities and inspectors. We deploy a comprehensive system under a Measurement-as-a-Service model to assist maritime authorities patrol and flag polluting ships efficiently.

Analyse

Stationary gas analysers are deployed in smart buoys and ground stations around the harbour. By connecting with AIS tracking systems, marinehound™ patrols all ships entering a harbour and provides in-situ SOx and CO2 emissions measurements.

Inform

When our Continuous Emissions Monitoring System detects high sulphur emissions from a ship it alerts the central marinehound™ system to conduct more in-depth inspections.

Remote Sample

A drone is activated to scan over the area and collect emission samples from potentially offending vessels. Emission samples are analysed to check for illegalities.

Actionable data

The highly accurate and actionable info that marinehound™ provides is available in real time to enforcers over secure data-sharing systems. This data gives clear grounds to authorities to perform further investigations of fuel compliance among targeted ships in their territorial waters. Furthermore, pollution monitoring results can also be easily reported to the IMO and other authorities as per obligation.

The innovative technology behind marinehound™

There’s no other product like marinehound™ in the market. The core engine of our system is comprised of an amalgamation of state-of-the-art components to offer unmatched sulphur emissions detection and analysis for the shipping industry.

Gas analyser

Our unique and patented gas analyser technology is capable of measuring SOx, CO2, and other emissions to a parts-per-billion precision.

Low power requirements

marinehound™ can be installed in an off-grid battery powered system in remote ground stations, smart buoys, or directly on ships to monitor scrubber performances. Its portability enables the system to cover more ground and a greater number of ships.

Optimised calibration cycle

marinehound™ is capable of working in any environment with a long lifetime. The system only requires calibration every two years, outlasting the nearest competitor by 18 months. This extended calibration cycle ensures marinehound™ requires less maintenance while providing greater autonomy.

Scalability

marinehound™’s modular approach ensures scalability with the potential for increased emissions detection and analysis features down the line, including NOx gas analysis, drone surveillance to protect critical port infrastructure, and water quality monitoring through our smart buoys.

Current Problems

Current SOx monitoring processes inspect less than 7% of all vessels a year.

Current emissions patrolling systems are random and ineffective.

Current monitoring is prone to error as it relies on manual operations.

Manual emissions analysis remains a highly labour- and cost-intensive process.

Manual tests of each ship’s emission levels can take a whole day.

marinehound™ Solutions

Our technology is capable of inspecting 100% of all ships entering ports per year.

Our system monitors emissions of ALL vessels in the area, and reports ships exceeding pollution limits for further inspection.

Our innovative gas analyser provides complete, accurate, and high-quality emissions analysis.

Our Measurement-as-a-Service model is highly cost effective and ensures profitability.

Our autonomous system provides continuous and accurate emissions data in real time.
